Carriere Braces | Stockport Orthodontic Practice

Carriere Braces

The Carriere appliance is a game changer – It can move the upper side teeth back to create space to either align crowded upper front teeth and/ or pull the upper front teeth back.

It also allows the side teeth to fit together as perfectly as they can.

The Carriere can also be used on the lower teeth to nudge the side teeth back to help create space to align the teeth, and if needed, pull the lower teeth behind the other ones in reverse bite cases. Treatment can then progress either to aligners or fixed braces.

It can simplify treatment and provide results that would not have been possible before.

“My brother Jack and I would like to say a very, very big thank-you for all the work you have done to make our teeth look really brilliant. When I had my braces removed I couldn’t believe the difference to my teeth (I can’t stop smiling now and I’m not worried about showing off my teeth).”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Carriere?

The Carriere device is a small metal arm which is glued to the side teeth, either on the top or the bottom teeth. A thin gum shield is worn on the opposing arch with an orthodontic bracket and elastic bands are worn between the carrier and the brackets.

What does a Carriere do?

The Carriere is an orthodontic appliance that aims to correct the position of either the upper or the lower teeth in relation to the jaws. At Heaton Mersey Orthodontic Centre in Stockport, treatment can then progress to either fixed braces or aligners to help achieve a comprehensive orthodontic correction.

How long do I need to wear a Carriere?

The Carriere device is typically worn for between 4 to 6 months.

Does it hurt?

Like all appliances, the carrier device can take some time to get used to it, it may rub against the cheeks and cause some aching.

As the teeth start to move, it may make the teeth ache, but this can be easily controlled with normal painkillers.
